Business or Friendship?

Does it HAVE to be a choice? I've mentioned something similar here on the blog before, but I've been thinking about it again lately.

I've been shocked at just how many people choose business over a friendship. I've seen it again and again. Can't there be a way to have both? Fortunately, I've never been in the situation to choose, but I have to say that I'd choose friendship.

Do people make mistakes? Absolutely. Are feelings hurt sometimes? Absolutely. Should those who did wrong apologize and try to move forward with a stronger friendship? Absolutely. If I do wrong, and apologize, should I be forgiven and given the chance to move forward? Absolutely. Maybe I'm just too sensitive (it's been said about me before...) but it just makes me sad to see this!

Like I said, I've been fortunate to not have to make this choice, but without a doubt, I'd try to make a way to have BOTH, and if that's absolutely not possible, I'd choose my friend over my business. At the end of my life I don't want to look back over things and think, "Well, I had to step on quite a few people, but that business I had sure was a success and I made some big money and earned big recognition with it." No. I want to think, "Wow, am I glad I never pursued those business opportunities that seemed so important to me at that time. I'm so glad I chose to nurture the true friendships I still have to this day, and that I've had such a great impact on people's lives."

And now it's cliche time... ;-)

Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff!

Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.

Patience is a virtue.

Forgive and forget.

Hey Beki, it's me Chris. I need to find my blogger login info. :) Just wanted to say one thing about your comments. Friends vs Business. We all want to make money, but only Friends will help you and watch your back.
