Funky Junk wannabe...

I enjoy stalking Seeker's Funky Junk Co. blog. I love her use of color and my home could use some updating. So yesterday and today I went out thrift store shopping and garage saleing. FUN!! A few of my goodies found...

This hanging light fixture that will soon go in my office, as soon as I can talk The Man into doing it. $.50!!

I got a Pampered Chef 4 loaf baking stone, which I've coveted for a few years now. This one is brand new and I paid $3 for it. Also seen in this picture is a table lamp I got for $1. I like the shape and texture, but I'm not sure what to do with it. Faux finish? Leave the color as is and do a colorful lampshade? Paint the entire thing a solid color? I'm open to suggestions here. Please tell me what you'd do with it!

There is also a little handmade pottery vase that I just thought was too cute! I might put my pens in it on my desk top. $.25. And that white... thing! It is a gorgeous piece of fabric that someone handstitched a hem onto the top to use as a curtain. No clue what I'll do with it, but I loved the embroidery work on it! $.25. The green basket is going to be used in the kids' playroom to hold little things... $.25. There's also a pretty glass decorative bottle, $1.

I think my favorite find though is the set of chairs! I only have one shown in the picture, but I got a set of 4 wooden folding chairs. They were made in the early 1920's for a local Mennonite church. LOOOVE these! $10 for the entire set.

A little town near us was having a city wide garage sale, so it was great to hit numerous houses. While out I stumbled upon a church that was having a huge "sale" in the basement. When I got in and started looking around a worker told me that everything was free! This place was as big as most Goodwill stores and it was all free!!! I asked if they'd take donations and she said no. She said if I really felt called to donate something, to please make a donation to the local homeless shelter. So I scored 8 or 9 pieces of name brand clothing for the kids there... all for free!

Thank you Funky Junk Co! I'll be stalking you again soon...

oh how fun! I loooove those chairs too, reminds me of get togethers at Grandma's house. They just don't make solid wood folding chairs like that anymore, you lucky girl! That white fabric looks luscious.

It depends on your decor, but I like the lamp as is. I think you should make a funky shade in a hip fabric to match.

Nice hunting!
