I'm back. I think.

Vegas was so fun!
And so dirty.
I know it's "sin city" but it was more sinful than I'd remembered.

The last time I was there, before this trip, there wasn't nearly as much porn handed out everywhere.
There weren't "dancers" in their g-strings smack in the middle of casinos.
If you wanted to see that you had to look a little harder for it.

Now it's all just there, whether you want to see it or not.

And there were so many families there! That made me sad.
Please don't take your kids to Vegas.
It's an adult playground and can be a great (cheap!) little getaway.
But it's not fair to expose kids to all that stuff.

I gambled $1 and won $2. So I walked out of the casino with $3 feeling pretty proud of myself. I'm such a winner.

Sunday night we pulled an all nighter and didn't sleep at all.
Sounded like a good plan at the time.
But we were hurtin' for the rest of the day!
Flew back Monday morning into Missouri, gathered up the family and started driving to Kansas.

The Baby screamed the entire 4 hours home.
Welcome back to reality, Mom!

I went to bed at 7:00 last night and woke up at 7:00 today. Still tired.
And with a massive headache.

4 Tylenol and large doses of coffee are helping.
I have 267 new emails waiting for me. Whew!
And about 8 loads of laundry that need folded.
The Man washed them all last night while I was sleeping.

I'm so glad to be back, but a bit overwhelmed at the moment!

Welcome home, Beki! Glad you had fun, but you're absolutely right - not a place for children.

Last time we went was a few years ago for an award thing my husband had won. Kids and I didn't leave the hotel which was not on the main strip. We stayed in the 80 degree pool the entire time. :-)

You're back! Don't ever leave us again like that! The withdrawls were horrible... And if you promise to stay, I'll promise not to walk around in a g-string anymore. No one needs to see that anyway...

My sister and BIL got married in Vegas- John stayed home with the kids. Vegas is no place for kids. My friend made fun of me while I was there- I was so excited I hit the jackpot on the slot I was playing - a payout of 880 to 1! It was a nickel slot. She mocked my 4.40 for months. :)

So... welcome back.

I'm so glad that you managed to come out ahead....that's hard to do in Vegas.

I think that Vegas can be fun for the whole family. It needs to be done carefully so you don't expose your kids to "all that" I'd love to take the kids to see Hoover Dam, and out to Nellis AFB to see The Thunderbirds.

I'm glad that you had a good trip!

Add a bit of chocolate to the coffee & tylenol next time. Works like a charm ;)

Glad you had a fun getaway and actually came out ahead!!! Don't spend it all in one place now!

Where did you stay by chance?? Reason being is in 2 weeks my husband and 6 year old are all going. He has to bowl in a tournament so we decided to just all go. Now I'm nervous that we decided to take him after reading this. I knew it wasn't kid friendly to begin with but figured we may find something to do. Oh, BTW we are staying at Mandalay Bay.

Rebecca, we stayed at Excalibur. There were pole dancers in the casino and you could see them from the registration desk, just walking through, etc.

I saw the same thing at several other hotels. We actually didn't go into Mandalay Bay at all so I can't say if that one has them or not.

When you're walking up and down the strip, just be careful to not look at or accept the flyers everyone shoves in your face. :) They're covered with nastiness. And they're all over the ground too, so be careful looking down.

The M&M museum and Coke place would be super fun for a kid!

Also, you can get an all day pass on the city bus for just $7/person and that's well worth it. You can just hop on and off at each hotel you want to see.

Welcome home! Sounds like an interesting experience. Never been there myself.

The Baby just hadn't seen you for a few days. Needed to get out all that screaming he'd been saving-up for you! :) Hope he's happier today.

Thanks a lot for the advice! We almost stayed at the Excalibur too. It was listed as a kid friendly hotel. That is scary! Thanks for the warning. Glad you had a great time and could get away for a while. Thanks again :)

uuuggghh, I can't believe they have so much trash just walking around for kids to see. Do those people have any morals at all? What is the world coming to? It's sad.

Well, I hope you had some fun and I'm sorry you have so much laundry to greet you. Such is the life of mothers.

P.S. Congrats on your $2 win...YIPEE!! LOL!

I'm glad to hear you are back safely! And after you get caught up on your sleep, you will be energized and ready to get back into mommy mode. I think we all need a break from it to be the best we can be for our family.
I have never been to Vegas, I'm not much of a gambler either. I look at $10 and think I would rather keep it in my pocket instead of hand it over to someone else LOL.
Welcome back!

I agree about Vegas not being for families! Remember those great commercials about Vegas being a family destination? They ran AFTER they started their "What happens in Vegas..." commercials.

Glad you had fun, though!

Welcome back Beki!
It's been a while since I've been to Vegas, crazy about all the shenanigans going on over there!

Good to have you back :)

Glad you had fun, but I agree - not kid-appropriate kind of place... I didn't care much for it when I went, either.
