Who IS that?!

The other day The Boy found this old head shot in the back of a file box.

"Who IS that?!"
"Me."
"No seriously, mom. Who is it?"
"It's me! Seriously!"
"Mom, that looks nothing like you."

Gee, thanks kid.

So I guess I'm old and crusty now or something.
Can you hear Bruce Springsteen in the background singing Glory Days?
All washed up.
A has been.
The 90's called. They want their lip liner back.

And that shirt? Well you can't see it in the picture, but it was a floral poet shirt with ruffled sleeves and everything. Very Four Non-Blondes.
I loved it! I seriously loved that shirt.

(Now that I look at this picture again, my teeth looked crooked. And they're not! Weird that I never noticed that before.)

Then The Baby pointed out a gorgeous blonde in a Chanel ad, and insisted it was Mommy.
"No, sweetie, that's not me."
"MOMMY!!!"
I didn't argue any further.
And he was my favorite child that day.

OH yeah. I'm seein' ice-cream and cheeseburgers for smart child and I'm thinkin' broccoli and salad for clueless child. These lessons must be learned the hard way! ROFL.

Isn't it funny that a bit of pouf in our hair can make us so much more desirable? Yep, that's a pet peeve of mine since I have super stick straight hair and it's harder than heck to get a pouf of any sort. Big hair. I kind of miss it. wish I could do the poufy bed head look naturally.... And lips...when they are vibrant they are delicious looking. But, its so much easier to throw on some neutral gloss while I'm driving!

the maintenance we are expected to do... sheesh!

Well, it is a lovely picture. But clearly that woman has no kids. Her hair has clearly been washed. She looks too well rested. There are no bits of food and whatnot stuck to her face and hair. I vaguely remember those days...

oh the 80's & 90's I remember them oh so well, the big hair, floral prints, spandex, and the Music...

The picture is beautiful, and it does indeed look exactly like you...really, I mean it. Just change the hairdo, and the clothes, and voila, your twin. By the way, I love lipliner, those flowery shirts and Four Non Blondes, um wait hold on, I'm having a flashback...!

It may be dated, but it's really a beautiful picture!

I love when my kid thinks I'm beautiful. :)

What a beautiful picture. I love those photos that really capture the essence of the time period. My son has said similar things about my old pictures but he thinks I look better now. He gets extra brownie points for comments like that of course!

The song "Glory Days" came out when I was in High School.
I knew mine were gone when I listened to that song years later and truly understood the lyrics.
Did you know Grandma Moses didn't start painting until she was in her seventies?

It really is a good picture, reminds me of Donna Martin from 90210 (wow that's dating myself!)
It's funny how our kids can't believe there was a time we weren't moms :)
