Fingerprint Friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of god
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of god
And I know its true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of god

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them? Here's how to join in.

1. Blog with your interpretation of God's fingerprints. Be sure to link back here so others can find the entire list of participants!
2. After you've posted your blog, sign the Mr. Linky below. Have fun exploring the other links as well!
Please only sign in if you're participating. Hopefully this will make us look at things through fresh eyes throughout the week!
-------------------

It's quite simple, but this week my eyes went to God's fingerprints on summer.
The fresh corn. The watermelon. The peaches. The cherries.
They're all so easily overlooked, but what a blessing to have beautiful and delicious foods, that provide us nutrients as well! Love that!
(I'm without internet for the rest of the weekend, so I'll check the links next week. Happy weekend!)

Just a little happy list...

Making me happy today.

1. The weather has been unbelievably mild for summer. Happy!

2. The kids found a little lizard the other day and put him in a (dirty) cup. The Baby put a cherry in there with him. Look at that blue tail! Happy!

3. Pounds lost. Photography business growing. New items listed in my shop. Happy!

4. These little people. Happy!

5. Being done with the flip house. Headed to Missouri this weekend for a little getaway. Happy!

How to win friends and impress people.

This is the easiest "recipe" in history. And I use that word loosely.

Get some toothpicks, large marshmallows, chocolate, and sprinkles.
You see where this is going, don't you?
Gosh you gals are smart!!

I like to melt the chocolate in a coffee mug. It makes it deep enough to dunk the marshmallows in.
And goodness knows, I don't use them. I use super tall extra grande cups for my coffee.

Stab, dip, dip, look in amazement at your creation, place it on wax paper, repeat.

Take them to a party and prepare for people to oooh and ahhh over your crazy mad skillz.

Now you could really get creative.
What about dipping them in milk chocolate and coconut?
Dip them in crushed peppermint for the holidays.
Crushed Oreos.
Oh! And did you know that now they make pink marshmallows that are strawberry flavored?
Dip those in dark chocolate.

Yeah.

Flip house - before and after pictures!

Wheee! This is my favorite part of flipping houses.
Being done with them.
I've done a lot of work on our previous houses.

But this one was done mostly by The Man and his partner, Roger. (GB, if you're reading this, thank you for letting us steal your husband for so many months!)
I did a fair amount of peeling wallpaper and painting, but that's about it.

I apologize, in advance, for so many pictures. There's just no other way to do it.
If you're on dial up, I'm so sorry!

In January, I originally posted the before pictures.
It took longer than we wanted to get it all done but it always does.
It was pretty gagtacular.
The outside before -

and after. (we scraped and painted the house, did a fair amount of work on the overhang on the porch)

Step in the front door and look into the living room, toward the kitchen.
Before -

and after. There is no dining room so we knocked a big hole in the wall to open it up, and The Man made a table top to fit in there. You can now seat 4 barstools under it and have an eating area! New flooring, installed overhead lighting where there was none...

Standing in the kitching entry looking back toward the front door. Before -

and after.

Standing in the kitchen entry looking into the kitchen. Before -

and after.

Pan down to the left a bit. Before -

and after. New everything. cabinets, countertops, sink, paint, flooring, appliances, window, light fixtures.

Fuzzy ceiling fan has been replaced. Before -

and after.

Standing at the other end of the kitchen, looking back toward the entry. The door with the green curtain leads to the garage. Before -

and after.

In the bathroom. Before -

and after. New flooring, new toilet, new light, (still need to install a mirror above the sink) new paint, new baseboards, new shower...

(this is a more accurate color depiction. It's very light aqua.)

This beauty of a light fixture in the hallway has been replaced. Cobwebs in the corner removed. Before -

and after.

I never showed you the three bedrooms before.
They're fairly small, and pretty nondescript. Just cute, basic, little rooms.
But they were as icky as the rest of the house.
Here are the afters.
Bedroom 1.

Bedroom 2. This one was tricky. When we bought the house, the washer and dryer hook ups were in the closet of this bedroom.
It took quite a bit of work, but the guys moved the washer and dryer space to a little cubby that is accessible from the hallway now.
It will hold a stackable front loading unit.
And this bedroom gets the closet back. It just makes way more sense this way.
Before -

and after.

Bedroom 3. (this one has a big walk in closet off to the right of the picture, but I didn't get a picture of it. And it still needs the light fixture put up, I think.)

Outside, there's a patio, huge workshop, and nice big yard.
Before -

and after.

It's a quiet street with a dead end, so not much traffic. On one side of the house is a neighbor, but on the other side is a nice park!
Anyone want to move to Kansas? We're asking $80,000 (or so...)

Whew. We're exhausted. Those tv shows don't show how much work flipping a house truly is. So.Much.Work.
But so rewarding too.

This weekend...

sit back and enjoy a cup of joe.
Or a cup of baby.

This is baby Bella.
Beautiful. 6 months old.
A miracle.
Her chest and tummy show scars from surgeries.
But her smile and spirit show a perfectly healthy little girl!
(they're a bit pixelated on the blog, but not full sized.)

(her mommy was trying to feed her, but she was way more interested in me and my camera.)

Thank you D for letting me enjoy your sweet baby girl!
She's amazing. Truly amazing.
(as always, if you're in Central Kansas or Southwest Missouri and would like portraits, just email me for details.)
-----------------------------

On other fronts, (that sounds weird - "fronts") ... I haven't mentioned it in a while, but our flip house is done. Almost. Practically. Whatever.
We're having an open house there this weekend.
I need to get pictures and get them posted here!
You will not believe your eyes when you see the afters.
Seriously.

----------------------------

In jewelry news, (imagine me putting my hand to my ear and speaking in a deep important sounding reporter voice) ...
I have quite a few new pieces of jewelry that will be listed soon.
I just haven't found made time to edit the pictures and write up the listings yet.
When I have a spare moment, I tend to gravitate towards things like sleep.
Or blogging.
It's all about priorities, you know.

Happy weekend! Enjoy your blessings!

I posted pictures a while back of the new girl in our family, baby Maddy.
She and my own Girl are the only two girl granddaughters!
Such a beautiful blessing.
These two will grow up with a special bond as cousins.

Psalm 127:3 (King James Version)
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

(Trying out a new linky thingy this week! MckLinky! I think it might be more reliable. It looks a little different, but just add your link like normal.)

The "B" family...

So much fun!
And so much work!
This was without a doubt, the toughest photo shoot I've done.

It was pouring rain. We were hiding under trees and awnings to catch some pictures.
Twin baby girls absolutely refused to look at me at the same time.
I think they had a plan to make me sweat.
It worked.

Gorgeous big sister who's 9, I believe.

At some point you give in and realize that twin toddlers will rule.
You just follow their lead.
I think in the end, we captured the fun, love, and chaos in this family!

(I always say this, but I have to because my schedule is filling up. If you're in the Central Kansas or Southwest Missouri areas and would like portraits, please email me for details.)
