I'm not a girl.

I don't scrapbook.
I've never seen Pride & Prejudice.
I don't like pink. (unless it's hot pink or fuchsia.)
I didn't love Julie and Julia.
I'm not mean to other women.
I'm not jealous of others' success.
I was never in a sorority.
I'd rather not receive roses on Valentine's Day.
I never dreamed about my wedding day when I was little.
I never hoped for Prince Charming.
I don't have cute shoes.
Romantic movies make me want to hurl.
I have a very small circle of close friends.
I'm not "normal."

So often I feel like I don't fit in. Like I'm not a girl.

What I am, though, is a woman who is caring.
I am loyal to a fault.
I am an artist.
I am a cheerleader to those I'm inspired by.
I am a child of God.
I try to point to Him in all things, though I fail often.
I am genuine and real. (also known as blunt.)
I am honest.
I am sensitive and get hurt easily when I'm left out.
I am a cryer.
I am a little overweight, but love my body for what it has and can do.
I don't understand it when people are mean on purpose.
I'm a hard worker.
I'm scared to try new things.
I'm shy, but try to fight it.
I love surprises.
I am in love with my husband.
I laugh all the time with my kids.
I'm a goofball, and okay with that.

I am exactly where I'm meant to be at this moment in my life.
No idea why all of this is coming out, but I'm glad I can spill it all here, whether anyone reads it or not.

And I like it when my coffee smiles at me.

I admire your honesty! That's why I love your blog. You are honest even if it's NOT the popular choice/answer.

I'd say I'm not much of a girl either.

Have a blessed day.

I think you are "normal" by anyway you look at it...and I love that you love where you are and who you are...that is the most important because I know I don't know you personally but we all appreciate who YOU are!

The smiling coffee is a cup of Joe from Burger King. :)

Normal is boring...
This is a lovely post. I too don't have cute shoes and I don't understand mean spirited people either. I am ok with being different but it's still no fun when someone points out (what they consider) your flaws. I am amazed how we perceive ourselves compared to how the world see us. I think of it often and I hope that I can learn to be a kinder person through it.

love this and right there with you...;-)

I'm not a girl either... but.. we are both God's WOMEN!

I love you.

You are encouraging.

Oh girl.....whatever you are awesome. Pigeon holeing isn't a good thing....we are all different and should embrace that. However, sometime we long to be "normal" but it IS boring. I think all of us bloggers are a bit bold and different..however, that is NOT how I would describe myself in person. I'm totally with you about MEAN PEOPLE..I just don't get it. I've been accused of being too nice, but as long as I'm not a doormat, I'm cool with that. The only thing I DO have is a lot of VERY CUTE SHOES! But I always get them at TJMAXX, Ross, Marshall's etc. Part of the fun is getting them so affordable. :)

I knew it!
You are a man pretending to be a STRONG, BEAUTIFUL and CARING WOMAN!

Most of that up there, I can relate to.

I do love pink and shoes though : )

I am right there with you on every single thing. My husband thanks me all the time for not being "like most women."

Vicki said...

Sorry to comment twice but my husband was reading over my shoulder and just asked me if I wrote that...I told him no but now I know why this is my favorite blog!

Beki, you are the absolute sweetest.

We are all "normal" to our Creator. Because we are made just the way He wants us to be.

I never dreamed about my wedding day either. I always thought it was weird that I didn't. Glad to know there are other weirdos out there like me! And sorority shmority, I say. I do love cute shoes, though.

What a fun post!! You know, I bet you are an awesome wife! Your hubby doesn't ever have to fear being dragged off to all the chick flicks or worry that his house is going to be done up in all roses and pinks. :)
So see, it's a GOOD thing the way you are!! ;)

This was so wonderful -- and, now we know you a bit better! Yay! :)

P.S. -- that last shot of the coffee cup is PRICELESS! :)

Just wonderful!! We are all perfection in our fathers eyes. God is good. I am so happy we are all so very different. You sound like me with the exception of the Pride and Prejudice bit. I have never been and never will be the typical "girl" but that is what my hubby likes about me. He is not the typical guy either :) He isnt into sports and I love it that way! he he. I hope you have a great week!! How cool is that.. your coffee is smiling at you!! :D

Ruth said...

ahh beki. and there was me thinking you were some kind of mariah carey-esque diva who would demand white drapes, lilies and puppies when you visit ;)

you're awesome. and if you ever choose to investigate pride and prejudice, promise me you'll go for the BBC version with colin firth. none of that recent schmuck. i don't think it's "girly"... elizabeth bennett is a fierce woman!!

You are beautiful
You are talented
You are amazing
You are kind
You are sweet (I know I've met you in person)
You have a huge heart
You have amazing ideas
You are blessed
You are the best Mommy to some amazing children
You are special
You are a Child Of God
You are loved (I read the comments on your blog and can tell)
You are funny
You remind everyone nearly every friday about the Fingerprints of God! I love Friday mornings!
You don't have to like pink....I hate pink but manage to find everything pink for my know the girl who always has a party on her head.... :)
Who cares about shoes......My philosophy wear slippers everywhere they don't make your feet hurt.

So in a nutshell........Just be you! We are all under construction. I believe that there really should be a sign upon our hearts that reads.....Don't judge me yet I'm an unfinished part because HE's still working on me!

Many Many Blessings to you!
