Whining and chocolate.

I'm a whiner.
I whine about too much to do.
I whine about the laundry pile that never goes away.
I whine about not getting enough help around the house.
I whine about having to cook dinner and being unprepared because I worked all day.
I whine when other jewelry designers steal my ideas.
I whine because I don't have chocolate and live too far to just run out and get some.
I whine about my thighs. (Surely not related to the chocolate...)
If I perceive it as a problem in my life, I will whine about it.

And recently it hit me. What if I didn't?
What if I just didn't whine?
What if I chose to be a 50's style tv housewife?
What if I chose to be a Proverbs 31 woman?
What if I was thankful because I have so much to do and am never bored?
What if I smiled while folding that laundry?
What if I was just grateful for the help I do get around the house?
What if I chose to be flattered that I'm a threat to other jewelry designers?
What if I started dinner earlier in the day?
What if I welcomed my family home from school and work to a clean house, a pretty mom, and a warm dinner on the table?
Maybe even with a chocolate cake for dessert?

Seems to me, it's a win win situation for everyone involved.
And I get that chocolate, after all.
No whining.
That's my goal for the week.
Do you have a goal?

Okay, that picture made my stomach growl. I may have to whine now.

I'm going to try your goal, I think you just wrote about me. Except the jewelry, can I whine that I'm not creative! I'll let you know how I do with the no whining.

that's a great goal! we try to do a "no negative words" fast every once in awhile, which is kind of the same thing

Whining drives the badgers away. Go for it. :)

Liked this post! I whine too! Too much! My goal for the week is to get my 12 mile run in and then reward myself with chocolate too!

Is complaining the same as whining? I've been on a complaining roll. Perhaps my goal should be the same as yours, just smile when I'm doing what makes me complain and make a tasty treat to indulge in later! Altho, I made cookies over the weekend and have already begun indulging. Am I off to a bad start?

I love this! I am trying to get up the nerve and do the things that I am scared of. First up was last night and I had my first "how to drive a standard vehicle" driving lesson. I kept putting it off for years...but I didn't do too bad. But the stopping up hill and trying to start back up killed me. {and I totally rolled thru the same stop sign on the way back} But at least I did it! Now, to get motivation to try it again!!

I adore this post. I am a whiner too. Just yesterday I was whining that my husband wasn't helping me with house work. So, I just did it without him and in the end, I was happy to have a clean space.

Years ago I was stuck in getting super annoyed that my husband would leave every drawer or cupboard door open when he looked in it. One day it dawned on me that I was the one that got pleasure from closed drawers and doors. So why not just think "it gives me pleasure to have this closed" and cheerfully close it. My focus changed and things looked a lot better too.

I need to join Whiners Anonymous! I whine and complain about all those things listed (except the jewelry copying). Hmmmmm...I will try it this week too. Maybe we can reconvene next Monday and see how it went! Take notes!

Oooh. The Lord just spoke to me this afternoon about complaining too. "Do all things without grumbling or complaining" right? For His glory. Thanks for the post!

i like the great attitude.
proverbs 31-- great model... 'a perfect wife, who can find?' ...hard to follow, but great model. I'm with you, let's at least give it a try.
...with a sprinkling of chocolate, of course.

Thanks for the reminder . . . I am a whiner as well . . . I resolve to not whine the rest of the day - I can only take it a day at a time - a week is overwhelming ;)

Thanks for the reminder. I am pregnant with our 4th (and final) child and seem to grumble constantly. I really needed to hear this today. Next you need to post the recipe for that yummy looking dessert you posted that has my mouth watering:)
