I'm in Love! { giveaway }

I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!

Buddy the Elf cracks me up. We watch that movie year round, not just at Christmas.
With the holidays over, we're suddenly thrown into Valentine's.

While we're not huge fans of Valentine's Day around here, (the cheap chocolate, too much pink, sappy jewelry commercials on tv)... I do still love a sweet sentimental something or other that declares to the world "I'm in love! I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!"

This new necklace is perfect for this sweet time of year, but simple enough for all year long as well.
It's a big chunky sterling heart with initials on it, reminiscent of sweetheart's inials carved into a tree.

True Love Always necklace

I don't like the pressure it can put on people who are single or dating, but I love any excuse to have a date with my hubby! Thanks!

My daughters birthday is the 13th and our wedding anniversary is the 23rd, so Valentines just ends up being 'one more thing on the calendar'. That's really okay by me, since I'm not a big fan of Hallmark inflated holidays. :P

I could do without it...It seems like a big commercial day...let's sell crap and make people feel bad that they don't have someone to give them gifts. Plus another holiday to try and come up with an amazing gift for the spouse.....

A few years ago a friend of mine and I used to spend all afternoon cooking for our hubby's. Top notch dinner...then we would serve it to them....It was a lot of fun..then we had kids and that stopped...I have to think of something fun to do now to incorporate the children into the VD.

Great necklace. I hope to win!

Angie said...

its just like any other holiday, you're forced to try and pick something out that your significant will like or enjoy. Flowers wilt and die, chocolate melts, etc. I look forward to just spending a quiet evening with my hubby, without all the extras. :)

merlin said...

I would first like to say that I would like to win the RustedChain giveaway and would choose the heart necklace.

Now, I can confess that Valentine's Day is my least favorite holiday. Please, just love me, in a Corinthians kind of way, all year long, even when I am unlovable, because that is meaningful love, not a cheesy heartshpaed box of chocolates and some marketers fake attempt at professing love in a card only on Feb 14.

I do think it is a sweet holiday for children, to focus on the love of friendship, but for adults I find it cheap.
Hope my honesty doesn't disqualify me...

Brittney said...

I LOVE Elf. One of my top 5 and watch it year round too. :)
I would love to win because this would be a great necklace to wear when my husband is deployed to remind me of our love and commitment. :) And when he is gone in the field to remind me that its not as bad and we can fight through anything. And for when he is here, to remind me that I married him cause I love him, but to cherish him when he is present. And also to embarrass my children as they are in that ewww.. kissing stage. :)

I've always been a 'show your love all year round' type of person. Simply because I feel Valentine's Day adds a lot of pressure and expectations that often let people down. So I guess it's not a really big deal in our house, though we may go out for dinner or hubby may get me some flowers. Lucky for us though we live in Hong Kong where it's not a big deal and often coincides with Chinese New Year so it's often forgotten about.

I dont like all the "hoop-la" that comes with Valentines Day. We do cards to eachother (my husband and I) and go to dinner. Honestly, it's like any other day to me. Hubby and I used to go to dinner but then we had kids. And now that he is out on the road working, I spend the day with our kids. Works for me! :)

Well, Valentines is just another holiday to get people shopping. I am so sorry, but I want my husband to give me flowers because in a random day he was thinking about my and not because society tells him he has to do it in an specific day...

Valentine's day isn't a big deal to me, although it's nice to get gifts... I would love to just get away for a weekend with the husband. No need for the flowers, candy, or a card. Just a few days away from the stress and worries.

Our anniversary falls the week before so Valentines gets no love around here. :-)

Valentine's Day was always just my mom's birthday and a day to maybe have a Girls' Night. Then I met my husband. Now the day is reserved for him: no plans except his, set aside for couple time and romance.

For my husband of ten years, Valentine's in no big deal. For our 3 year old twins, I think we'll have lots of fun creating valentines for our preschool friends.

My thoughts on Valentines...get me chocolate, I'll enjoy it. If you want to give me flowers, don't get me chocolate!!

We usually stay home for dinner & have fondue at home for dinner & dessert :) One year, we were babysitting some friends' kids for the night because she was in the hospital having her 3rd child. The kids enjoyed the fondue for dinner & dessert. They went to bed...& for some reason, the oldest daughter woke up in the night dreaming & raised up in the top bed of bunk beds & hit her head on the ceiling fan...which was on...It gave her a big gash in her head & tons of blood everywhere, but once we got her into the bath to check her head, she had a slight cut on her head, but she was fine once we cleaned her up. She went back to bed & slept the rest of the night. It definitely made it an exciting & rememberable Valentine's Day :)
