Fruit Shortcake

As always, I'm not known for my complicated recipes.

I am, however, known to make things sometimes that people rave about.
This is one of them.

Fruit Shortcake

1 box of butter cake mix (or yellow cake)
Fresh strawberries, peaches, and mulberries (we have loads of mulberries here but you could use blackberries or blueberries or whatever you'd like)
Whipped topping

Bake the cake according to the package directions. (told you it's not complicated.)
While it's baking, slice up the peaches and strawberries. Toss in the other berries as well. Sprinkle them with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Cover it and let it sit in the fridge. It will get all saucy and juicy and goodlicious.

When your cake is done and cooled, cut a piece (or a full slab), top it with lots of fruit and juice, then whipped topping. The juice soaks down into the cake and is ah-mazing.

So easy! So yum! So summery!

I never thought about letting the berries sit to release their juice, that is amazingly easy and I'll bet it's soooo good! Thanks ;)
