Hawaiian Pork Sandwiches (slow cooker)

1. I don't really use recipes. I use ideas. So there are no real measurements. You can't mess it up.

2. This feeds an army. Or a family of 5 for a week.

Pork for carnitas with fat trimmed off (you can use any pork roast here. Carnitas is usually less than $7 for a big package.)
1 small can crushed pineapple with juice(or pineapple tidbits)
Onion (I hate onion. But cooked long enough it disolves into the meat and tasts yummy.)
Baby carrots (these just added a bit of sweetness and nutrition. They also disolve when cooked long enough.)
Garlic (crushed, minced, powdered, whatever.)
1/2 Bottle Terryaki sauce
1/2 Bottle BBQ sauce (we like Curly's.)
1/3 bottle of Thai Chili sauce (for a bit of heat)

Place the onion chunks and baby carrots on the bottom of your slow cooker. Pork sits on top. Dump in all the other ingredients on top. Cook for 8-10 hours or until the meat shreds easily with 2 forks.

If it's too saucy, you can remove some of the juice with a ladle. If it needs more, add more of your bottled sauces.

Serve on hamburger buns. Or tortillas. Or on top of leafy greens for a salad.

Now do the hula. I'm sure this is authentic Hawaiian food.

Oh my goodness that looks fabulous!!! I might have to try that!

My sister sent me a recipe a few years ago for her homemade BBQ sauce, but I've never made it. I need to try that one of these days too....

Yum. I will have to add that to the menu plan for next week as I refuse to cook anything in the oven...the crock pot is my friend in the summer (:

I saw this on the sidebar...does the pineapple make it too sweet?

Nope the pineapple just makes it a bit sweet but it balances well with the salty.
