Love What You Do.

This is a poster that hangs on the wall in our studio.

Love What You Do.

I look at it several times a day.
And not to get all heavy and sappy on you, but it makes me think about important things in life.

We all have struggles. We all have times when we feel like what we're doing isn't enough or doesn't matter.
We feel like other people have "important" roles in life, while we don't.

Other people get tons of adoring comments when they show a picture of a paper plate on their blog, while you can spend hours writing something heartfelt and meaningful, and get little to no response.

It doesn't matter.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Let every single little thing you do be for the glory of God.
Love what you do. Embrace your own personality traits, gifts, faults, and circumstances you've been given.

Everything you've been given to do, there's a reason for.
Potty training. Mundane paperwork. Long commute. There's a reason for every single thing.

Me? I'm just making jewelry. Taking photos. Tossing up a blog post now and then.
Fighting the never ending messy house.
Struggling to stay organized and not miss meetings or appointments.
Employing a few more people than I ever thought I would. Learning through trial and error to become a business owner.
Meeting (and sometimes missing) deadlines.
It could all seem pointless.
Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I make mistakes more often than I'd care to admit.

But I love what I do.
I try to remember to do every single thing for the glory of God.
Even laundry.

Happy Tuesday to you lovelies!!

Thanks for your post this morning. I needed the reminder to work as unto the Lord. And, to be cheerful about it!!

Ahhhhh! I'm so excited, thank you!!!
(and I needed to read this post today...headed to go sit with my Grandpa who is in the last stages of Hodgkins, and as hard as it is, I must remember this verse, so timely....)

Ahhhh! I am THRILLED! I have a very similar quote hanging in my office - 'Do what you love, love what you do.' And I look at this quote by Steve Jobs all the time, too: 'Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only way to do great work is to love what you do.'

Beki, the timing on your post is amazing and I know it's not just because of you. Thank you.

Also, just because you don't get a response doesn't mean that your words don't touch others. Sometimes people don't know what to say, sometimes they get sidetracked and then forget, sometimes they're just too overwhelmed. Stay the course.

Thank you! This is such a great reminder to love not only what I do, but where I am. I know I'm not doing my passion at the moment, but I can still find joy in God's goodness and the hope that his purposes will be lived out in me. This is one of the best posts I've read in a long time. Sure beats all those paper plate posts. ;)

Thank you for getting right down to the heart of matters, Becky!

Thanks for the wonderful post today - perfect timing for me.

Just wanted to let you know that yesterday I made the caramel stuffed apple cider cookies you had "pinned" on pinterest - they are the most wonderful cookies! Perfect for this time of year. So thank you for posting those cookies! My husband and four children thoroughly enjoyed them - they are all gone.

Love that poster! Love what you said! Isn't that so true??? It baffles me that someone can post a picture of a paper plate and have tons of comments and I can take what I think is an amazing picture and not get a handful of comments.

Happy Tuesday to YOU!
Thanks for stopping by--come again soon!

This crazy world makes it hard sometimes to remember to love what we do---so thanks for the reminder.

Very well said, Beki! I especially love the "paper plate" comment. How true, I guess you never know what will inspire blog visitors. Some days it's harder than others to be positive, to see the best things in life instead of letting the routine and tedious take center stage. Thanks for the reminder! :)

I love your blog. Your words have touched my heart and make me realize that my life is so similar to yours in many ways (1 husband, 3 kids, love God and coffee..). Thanks for your incredible encouragment.

...and the temptation to post a picture of a paper plate now is HUGE

I still might do it...

I stumbled across this post and it was words I needed for today. I've been going through something in my life and thinking all those negative thoughts you mentioned. At this point in my life I'm wondering why I even sew....your words have inspired me. Thanks!
