Surgery and Three Stooges and winners.

Last week was "Simple Pleasures" week for a reason - they were all pre-scheduled because I knew I wouldn't be able to blog all week.

I had surgery early in the week to have my wisdom teeth out.
I've been told since I was about 18 that I needed to do it, but I'm maybe a teensy weensy bit stubborn and refused until it was absolutely necessary.
And I woke up one day in miserable pain, knowing it had to be done immediately.

Here are 10 things I learned last week:

1. While I was heavily sedated, I noticed a framed photo on the wall of the surgeon's office.
It was the surgeon's family, I thought. And they weren't a pretty people. Quite the opposite, in fact.
They looked a lot like the Three Stooges. And I mumbled something like "Is that your family?? They look just like the Three Stooges! Dude, you should've married up!"
The entire office burst into laughter. Apparently it really WAS a framed photo of the Three Stooges.
But what if it hadn't been?? What if that had been his real family!?
Lesson learned: I'm not good under heavy drugs.

2. Oprah's not on at 4:00 anymore. I tried nearly every day to find her show at 4:00 before realizing it no longer exsists.

3. Friends is on all the time, now. And I still think Rachel had cute hair and outfits. And I kind of want to paint my cabinets turquoise and my front door purple. And Chandler is more annoying than I remembered.

4. Ice packs are my BFF.

5. I can make a pretty mean coffee sludge thing for breakfast. Vanilla yogurt, coffee, creamer, and ice blended up. Caffeine breakfast through a straw! Yum.

6. Part of the way through the week I just started thinking of it as a vacation, realizing that Mom's never really get time off... unless they have surgery. Vacation for me! WooHoo!

7. If you have smoothies twice a day for 6 days straight, you sprout a Chiquita Banana hat. (That could've been drugs causing me to see that though...)

8. By day 6, I was ready to blend anything I could get my hands on - pizza, BBQ pork, tater tots, you name it.

9. I lost 4 lbs. Which was actually disappointing because I was hoping for 7 or more. I went into last week thinking of it as a long painful expensive diet. 4 pounds? hmph.

10. I strongly resembled the GoodYear Blimp. Today my cheeks are still slightly puffy and green from bruising, but it's getting better.

***The winners of the giveaway (from way too long ago) are Suki and Danyelle. Congrats ladies! Please email therustedchaininfo AT to claim your $25 gift certificates.***

So... now I dive into an already busy Monday morning, with over a week's worth of work to do. Wheeee!

Oh Beki, wisdom teeth are no fun! I chose to not be sedated when mine were out because the surgeon is rather good looking and since I work in the dental field I didnt want to say anything stupid! ha! Feel better soon!

Bless your heart! I can't believe you said that to the dentist, but I bet his office staff loved it! I would have been rolling on the floor laughing. :)

I remember having my wisdom teeth out! No fun! Too funny about the 3 Stooges. My guess is that if his family really looked like the 3 Stooges, there would not be a picture of them anywhere in the office.
You look like a tired little chipmunk with your swollen cheeks. Hope you feel great soon!

Ouch. You poor thing. Just take it slow. You do not want to rush it and have other problems. Been there done that.
Hilarious about the three stooges picture. Just asking if that was his family is SO funny.

I had all 4 wisdome teeth out in high school. It was not fun. Too top it off, I didn't rinse out the stitches like I was supposed to after eating and they got infected. I don't recommend that. Of course that was back in 1982 so things might have changed since then.

Ooooohhh, sounds and looks painful! You crack me up, even when you're in pain. I'm laughing with you, not at you :)

Poor thing. Having wisdom teeth removed as an adult SUCKS. Now you'll feel those creepy holes in the back of your mouth for about a year.

Your story made me laugh, about the Three Stooges. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I was in college, I think, and after I came to I started singing "In the Jungle" (Lion Sleeps Tonight). I am pretty sure I said something about the guy who did the surgery, something that had to do with his lips or kissable? I don't remember and I can't remember exactly what my mom said I said. Also made folks laugh. And then, I was told that tampons are great for absorbing blood once I was home. Yep. I did that, too. And my mom got a picture of it. I also believe I had pantyhose tied around my head with ice in them. Good times. :) Hope you are feeling much better!!

For future doesn't sound like they told you never to drink through a straw after having teeth causes dry sockets. And then you have to go get them packed with this nasty stuff and its just awful! I hope you have no problems with that and that the drinking your sludge through a straw didn't hurt those gums! Hope you are doing much better now. :)
