Farmin' and I Grow it - the backstory!

By now you may have seen this video.
It is SO great!!
I think I first saw it on Good Morning America, but I keep seeing people post it on Facebook and Twitter.
The guys have been on CNN, Fox news, and other national tv appearances because of it.

Since these are Kansas guys that created this, I wanted to know more of their story.
So I recently contacted Greg Peterson for a little interview.

Who did you make the video with? My brothers, Nathan (18) and Kendal (16). My sister Laura helped with the filming as well.

Where did the idea come from and how long did it take to put it all together?
Heard the song at a local Sonic on the radio. Changed the words.
Friends thought it was funny so I wrote it down and kept coming up with different phrases until the song was written! Started as a video for fun, turned into more of a video promoting agriculture.

What's the most surprising result you've had since posting your video online?
The national media picking it up and running with it. Also, the amount of opportunities stemming from the video. (Job offers, internship offers, and speaking opportunities at different ag conferences)

What are you going to school for?
Ag Communications and Journalism with a minor in Music Performance

Do you have plans to make any more similar videos?
Yes! None have been written yet, but hopefully by next summer we will release 1 or 2 more. We'll see. :)

What do you wish people knew about the Midwest, or Kansas?
That it shouldn't just be considered as a flyover state. There are many hardworking people (farmers and others as well) that have great values and are the backbone of America.
People shouldn't look down on us just because we don't live in a big city!

How long has your family farmed, and what is your main crop?
It is a 4th generation farm. Mainly beef cattle, but we also grow wheat and feed for the cattle (corn silage, sorghum, alfalfa)

Do you have a girlfriend? (What?? Some local girls want to know!)
Haha nope! All 3 of us are single. :)

Greg, thank you for the interview!!
Thank you guys for making Kansas proud.
And we'll be anxiously watching for your next appearances!

I liked this interview with the Kansas Farm Boys! They made a catchy video and I am looking forward to their future efforts!

Thanks Beki...and thanks for visiting my blog and reading my Saturday poem! Life is sweet...and we need to live it to the fullest...and appreciate the little things in life!

My daughter Lisa has gone to your Barn Sale before and she got to meet you and take a picture with you. (Then she blogged about it.) She said we should go together this year and also take my middle daughter Lynnette, cuz it's on her Birthday! Oct. 6th! (:>)

Have a great day!
